Tom was a very generous and friendly person and would delight in making his special Mexican chili recipe for everyone. I knew him mainly for his work on Bob Mckimson and Chuck Jones cartoons post-1957, but he had a very long career in animation prior to that. He told me that he was the assistant to MGM animator Irven Spence and I recall how tremendously heartbroken he was upon learning of Mr. Spence's death in 1995. Tom autographed for me a copy that I had come across of a Western Publications Tom and Jerry children's book he had illustrated in 1953. My deepest sympathies to his family and all who knew and respected him...<br />G.Duffell, Toronto, CanadaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22906998.post-25394962309450930492010-04-09T14:06:00.744-07:002010-04-09T14:06:00.744-07:00A typo in the above obit -- Tom retired (at least ...A typo in the above obit -- Tom retired (at least from L.A.-area work) in 1998, not 1988.
