So Long, 2016!
A collection of the studios that employ our members; we now have contracts with more than two dozen studios. In 2016 we have seen record employment - that's definitely something to celebrate.
Here's some of the other things that happened this year...
Members elected a new Executive Board and Business Representative. ( thank you members! )
At other Locals, ( Local 600 - Camera, Local 700 - Editors, Local 800 - Art Directors ) new leadership was chosen.
Gender and diversity at studios was a continuing topic of conversation. ( if you haven't heard about unconscious bias, please explore this website from Google - it's real. )
Comcast NBCUniversal purchased DreamWorks, Croods 2 was cancelled, and 170 artists will be laid off by the end of January. If you're affected by this layoff, please contact the Guild office if you haven't already - we'll help you understand the resources that are available to you.
All changes - some good, some a reminder that this is a tough business and there are ups and downs.
At the Guild, our mission stays the same: provide a seamless cloak of benefits, the strength of a collective voice, and a positive work-life balance by working in union with our membership.
Here's to 2017! Let us know how we can help you make it a great year!
