As The Princess and the Frog nears the magical plateau of $100m, we initiate the latest Disney movie watch.
The Princess and the Frog -- Thursday, January 21 -- $97,955,233
It's close to the marker, yes?
By way of contrast, two other animated films exited from theaters last week, both on Monday. Their box office totals:
Cloudy With Meatballs -- Monday, January 18 -- $124,758,315
Planet 51 -- Monday, January 18 -- $40,230,452
And Avatar is still Number One.

Rats. I guess the Pixar-Lasseter magic hasn't started yet.
Don't know what's more pathetic - originally posting this "comment" to the wrong thread, or coming back to post it here.
What's more pathetic is your behavior.

Steve, isn't this only domestic box office? From what I understand, the movie is going to open in England in early February.
Also, your long-lost twin is working as a conductor at the Disneyland railroad. Could've sworn it was you.....

That is the worst comeback Ive ever heard.
Might not have made as much as Bolt domestically, but it will likely make just as much, if not more, profit if you include merchandise sales (which I understand were doing really well).
And if it does decently overseas, Froggy might be Disney's most profitable animated movie since Chicken Little given that its budget is supposedly a measly $105 million (according to boxofficemojo.com).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Froggy didn't have to go through the retooling that Meet the Robinson's and Bolt did either.
Still not a breakout hit like Pixar or Dreamworks though. Still, at least it looks like they could still be on the right track.
Unfortunately even if this movie creates a profit, the Pixar management will keep the crew feeling like they failed. Just be happy that you have a job folks. Keep your heads down and keep feeling insecure. Thats the way they like it in the hallways at disney.

Really? Are the Pixar folks holding the Disney animators down? Or is this just another comment one of the typical "Pixar is Evil" posters?
Is morale that bad?
Disney should have release that frog movie in November instead of that horrible zemeckis movie.
"Rats. I guess the Pixar-Lasseter magic hasn't started yet."
Since it's not a Pixar movie, maybe Disney should have hired more competent film makers from top to bottom to make PATF.
Princess and the frog is a solid film, rated well across the board and will be very profitable for Disney through merchandise, DVD sales and when it rolls out globally.

Sure, but just imagine how much bigger merchandise, etc would've been if the film had actually been a hit
The budget for Frog was more than $105, and the movie will not be profitable, even with the high consumer products sales. Disney has not had a movie make a profit since Lilo & Stitch.

Really? Source please.
Yes, morale really is that bad.
There's still flailing and unpleasant upper management there that's largely responsible for that.
I wanted to like PATF. But it was a let down for me. Same old song and dance.
I did enjoy the gator and the mutant hillbillies, though.
rufus.
I work there and morale isnt that bad. Rapunzel looks cool. The screening last week was great. This could be a banner film for Disney.
I just wish we had more time to finish it, but isnt that what every studio says?
Curious to see what you'll say about morale a week or two away from layoffs.
