Over in sun-kissed Culver City, Sony Pictures Animation's Visual Development artists have moved out of the fifties moderne building down Ince Street, and now occupy the same building that houses storyboarders. Sayeth a viz-dev person:
"We've got ten seconds of color on Meatballs now, and putting more into work. It's moving along" ...
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs wasn't moving for quite a little while. It's gone through a variety of voice actors and different scripts. There's been multiple storyboard passes. (I was in one artist's office and we were comparing the lengths of time we'd both been on one animated feature. We tied at three years each.)
But I'm happy to see the picture is rolling full-speed at last, and getting made (the crew wondered for a time.) There's other things in development and some of the projects look zesty and entertaining. With luck -- and some box office action for Meatballs when it's released in 2010 -- they'll get developed, produced and released.

Go Cloudy!
Well, I'm all for being optimistic, and I am rooting for Sony, but, in this industry, I've learned never to trust in anything unless it's writen down on paper. Even then, you have to be a little skeptic.
A bird in the bush is worth more...
