The post above was inspired by a lunch discussion of four grizzled animation veterans (one of them me) that took place yesterday in Burbank.
Always good when a Disney subisdiary does an "homage" to product of the Mother Ship,, don't you think?
The Pixar short looks cool... but it doesn't impress me as much as the 1954 cartoon, Johnny Fedora and Alice Blue Bonnet.
I agree with you, Steve. The 'inspiration' is quite evident in a lot of Pixar's projects.

• Planes/Pedro
• The Inside Out/Reason & Emotion
• The Blue Umbrella/Johnnie Fedora & Alice Bluebonnet.
There could be even more. There's definitely a pattern there.
I don't know. Sure there are similarities, but I doubt it was done on purpose. I have no idea who this Unseld character is. I imagine he is probably young and has never seen the Fedora cartoon. Hell, I'm an old guy and I didn't even know about it.
And no, I'm not one of those Pixar-can-do-no-wrong types. Probably just the opposite. Especially after that Brave crap.
Anyway. Nothing is new these days. Maybe this only proves the point. ?
I thought this cartoon was made in 1946 as apart of Make Mine Music
Might have been '46. Might be I have the wrong date.
I should go research it.
