Some dedicated animation pros look at a lot of programming and sit in a lot of meetings to carve out the year's nominees from a mass of programming. I know a lot of these folks and they put a lot of time into the process.

My hat's off to them. I've juried a few award contests over the years, and I know what a time-consuming (and often draining) process they can be. Yet many animation people volunteer year in and year out. A couple of times around the mulberry was more than enough for me.
