Thirty-Two Years Ago, Part II

So here's the second part of the Guild's Golden Award banquet at Sorrentino's, circa 1984.

Of the various Golden Awards ceremonies that have been held over the years, this one was the most zazzy.

The room was full of energy, almost electric.

I had never seen so many animation legends in one place.

Gary Owens was at the peak of his powers.

And it was good that all kinds of animation employees ... from inkers and painters to storyboard artists to animators to directors ... were being honored together on the same night, all with the Golden Awards trophy, a golden pegboard on a wooden base.

(Of course, pegboards are kind of "yesterday" at this point).

Part Uno can be found here.
