Animated Weekend Box Office
"The Wild," per Box Office Mojo, has fallen out of the Top Ten...
But as you can see, "Ice Age: The Meltdown" still hangs in there at #9.
Now it's two weeks to go before the latest DreamWorks feature, "Over the Hedge," hits multiplexes, and has a multi-week window before "Cars" comes rolling into town.
Right now "IA2" is doing less than half the business stateside that it's taking in overseas, but 183 million (and counting) still isn't shabby.
SUNDAY UPDATE: Ice Age: The Meltdown is estimated to actually move up a notch from last weekend, to sixth place this weekend. More impressive, it's now number 31 on the all time worldwide box office chart (unadjusted for inflation, of course). Take a look at that chart -- 10 of the top 50, a whopping 20%, are fully animated films. Not bad for a market segment that at best makes up 2-3% of the feature films released.
