I spent part of the morning and a slice of the afternoon at Starz Media/Film Roman. Happily, the parking lots on all sides of the big building across from the Burbank Airport grow ever more full ...
The crewing for the Goode Family (the new Mike Judge series with a thirteen episode order) is up and running, and a bunch of different episodes are now in work.
"We don't have huge budgets because the show hasn't proven itself yet. Storyboard artists are being asked to work tighter deadlines, and the directors ... we've got five ... will swing right over to new episodes when their previous shows have finished animatics ..."
King of the Hill now has most of its people back to work on the new season as The Yellow Family continues to add artists for its twentieth season.
"I was told they've got twelve episodes recorded now" ... "There's new execs coming in, and old ones leaving" ... "Simpsons directors are having a meeting about management changes" ...
Mark Kirkland is now directing his 61st Simpsons episode. Congratulations, Mark!

Starz is not accepting any portfolios for drop off unless you are specifically requested by a director. So don't bother with the drive over there with the idea that they need people. They don't.
Nice to know that you have to be specifically invited to take a test for them before getting shot down!
The best time to look for work at Starz was this past Spring. They're pretty booked up now.
