... If the boys and girls at Warners can pull it off:
Warner Bros. is taking a trip to Jellystone Park.
The studio is developing a feature version of "Yogi Bear," the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon, and "Surf's Up" co-helmer/co-writer Ash Brannon is attached to direct ...
The project, culled from Warners' vast library*, is planned as a live-action/animated hybrid along the lines of Fox's 2007 hit "Alvin & the Chipmunks." Much of the movie will be live-action, but Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo will be done in CG ...
Okay, so we know Yogi and the Booster won't be guys in bear suits ... despite the picture above.
But who do you see as Ranger Smith? Is it Tom Cruise? Ben Affleck? Shia LaBeouf? This could either end up like The Chipmunks' feature ... or Looney Tunes, Back in Action.
As my sainted father used to tell me: "You get awful tired of seeing that bear talk out of the side of his face." Have the producers thought of this?
* The vast library of Yogi properties came about when Ted Turner bought Hanna-Barbera, and then was absorbed by Time-Warner.

More Yogi. Great!
Hey, Steve. Are we all out of work again because of 'union brotherhood?' Ain't showing up for support this time. Too f'ing busy trying to pay for the other group of a-holes that screwed the pooch over on Wall Street.
Hey Steve,
I know it's way early in the game but who is Warners going to get to do the board work? They don't have a feature unit anymore, so will it be done at another studio or will they make a special unit and stick em in some backlot trailer?
It IS early, and as this is really a live action film with a CG character(a la Boris & Natasha, etc)I'd bet it'll be boarded like every other live action film: by that other union. ; )
A CGI Yogi Bear?
(channeling Daffy Duck): Shoot me now.

They have no choice. If it's a live-action movie they have to use local 790 (now 800).
