The American Animation Institute (AAI) was founded in 1980 by the Animation Guild, to further the art of animation through observation, demonstration, training and application. The Summer 2011 semester of AAI classes starts June 6, and registration starts over the next week.
Reservations will be taken from active members starting 8:30 am on Friday, May 6, and from inactive members and the public starting 8:30 am on Monday, May 9. To reserve, call (818) 845-7000 on or after these dates and times (do not e-mail). You are not fully registered for an AAI class unless you have reserved and then paid in full by May 20.
Among the classes offered this semester:
- Color and still life painting classes by Nicole Duet.
- Storyboarding and several art classes by Karl Gnass;
- Gesture drawing by Mark McDonnell;
- Two perspective classes by Jon Messer;
- A basic animation class by Alex Topete;
- An anatomy class by Glenn Vilppu;
- Composition and digital painting by Will Weston;
