New way to make lots of people
The above video was created with the incredible Autodesk Maya plugin for crowd simulation, AI & behavioral animation, creature physical simulation and rendering called Miarmy (read My Army). It came to market a few years ago to be a competitor to the popular program Massive.
We share it here, for your wonder, amusement and enjoyment on a Monday afternoon.

My interpretation of the video: the unfortunate people getting knocked down and dragged around by that monolithic spinning thing represent the hordes of animation and vfx graduates from various art schools trying to get into the industry and the monolithic thing is the industry.
I see an improved physics engine in a plugin that will likely help many artists achieve crowd simulations in movies to come.
I guess its just a matter of perspective.
I see something that's sad, horrifying and amusing all at the same time.
Made me laugh when I first saw it. I guess I'm a bit of a sadist toward digital people doing moronic things.
Yes, Steve (Hulett) that's what I see, too : "something that's sad, horrifying and amusing all at the same time" , hence my interpretation that the video represents the hordes of graduates cranked out by the animation schools who will be knocked down and dragged around mercilessly as they try to get into the industry (oh, sure, there is a lot of animation and vfx work around these days , but not enough jobs to match the number of grads being cranked out of the schools).
