Here’s a design card with a southwest desert flavor ... a mission bell and flowering yuccas ...

In his life as a landscape artist, padre painted far more mountain and seascapes than he did depictions of the desert. Of course, if you are going to paint Christmas cards, scenes of the first nativity (and the surrounding arid landscapes) are likely to come up.

Wow! Bares more than a passing resemblance to Eyvinde Earl's work -right down to the color.

Well, Eyvind and Pop worked together in the Disney background department for some years. I'm sure there were influences in both directions.
