Why Everyone is Sucking It Up ...

... and keeping their heads down.

Why, in the last two months, I've stopped getting complaints:

The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless benefits unexpectedly rose to its highest level in over 26 years last week and so-called continued claims jumped to a record high in March, according to data that underscored the labor market deterioration.

Cost cutting by animation studios goes on unabated. The television side of the business has been anemic for awhile, so this is sort of understandable.

Theatrical animation, however, is making buckets of money. Despite this, the big studios roll back wages ... roll back wages ... and roll back wages.

The studios do this because

A) The economic meltdown gives them a fine excuse and opportunity to cut (other divisions are not faring so well ...) and

B) Supply and demand is working in their favor.

A perfect storm, I'd say.

Not good news, yet what can we do about it? If we take action, we risk losing the job to the huge supply. If we don't act, we are letting them rape us. Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

500, 000 people lost their health benefits in February. 600,000 lost their health benefits in March. Pensions are being cut and eliminated.

Thanks bush and dick for being asleep at the wheel for this AND 9/11.

^Anonymous, maybe you ought to stop watching cartoons for a while and try a dose of reality. And an even stronger dose of meds.

It's time this blog stopped talking nonsense about animation and the lousy economy, and started focussing on Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I have read all the posts on this blog, and not one....NOT ONE..mentioned God, Jesus or the Bible.

How can you expect your wages and jobs to improve if you haven't given praise and glory to Him? So far as I can tell, you're all a bunch of unsaved hell-bound miscreants awaiting many years of writhing and burning.

Spoken like a true disciple of the pagan emperor Constantine, the actual editor of the "New Testament." (Look it up). His poison dogma, masquerading as Gospel, has been causing pain and misery for 2000 years. He and a cabal of fanatic third century church leaders invented the concepts of salvation, hell and the divinity of Jesus, which was by no means a settled issue at the time. They created a revisionist version of first century history which conveniently lets Rome off the hook for the execution of Jesus and absurdly blamed the Jews for killing their own Messiah, which they would never do. This lead to centuries of anti-semitic persecution and eventually, the Holocaust. They redefined the concept of the Messiah as the gatekeeper of heaven which bears absolutely no resemblance to its biblical origins.

You and your fellow brainwashed robots have taken the very valid issues of enlightenment and morality and reduced them to a superstitious, facile say-the-magic-words-and-be-saved magic trick. Godliness doesn't come in a box; just add water and stir! That only leads to self deception and self-righteousness, something the actual Jesus spoke out against vociferously. All your hypocrisy is doing is creating more atheists.

We all have to find our own path. You know what you can do with your one-size-fits-all instant-coffee magic wand. Better yet, give it back to the pagan emperor who created it.

And you wonder why your jobs are so unstable! No wonder God has forsaken your industry with posts like that.

Here you are typing paragraphs of blasphemy and "Da Vinci Code" LIES when you should be studying your Bible. No industry, including animation, can thrive when it is in open rebellion against Him.

The Nine Old Men were all God-fearing Christians. Don't you think they might've known a thing or two that you don't? Today's generation of animators are decadent and many of them have chosen a left-handed lifestyle choice. I can only warn you that your jobs may be dependant upon how you behave toward God, not to mention eternal hellfire.

For those religious fanatics, please post you sermons someplace else. I am not interested in your faith. I come to this blog to learn about trends in the animation industry, so that I can an informed and intelligent animator.

To those of you who replied honestly to "Righteous" comments, apparently sarcasm escapes you....tremendously

g,

How do you know Righteous was being sarcastic? Are you "Righteous?"

His second post, I have to admit was unresponsive and a bit over the top, which implies a put-on, but, why that subject? Why this particular blog?

Talk about changing the subject!

Nope, Im not "Righteous." Their first post just seems super sarcastic to me, since so many posts here turn into ridiculous, off-track rants (like Anon #2's), and this was his (her?) funny response to it. Righteous' second post just seems like flame-fanning.

I, for one, and getting a kick out of it though :)

And I say CG animators have much less talent than 2D.

Also, Dreamworks is way worse than Pixar.

Therefore, Dreamworks CG animators are astronomically less talented than Pixar 2D animators.

Finally, evolution is evil, and never happened.
