The Singing

... of a new tune.

But this is particularly entrancing.

... Fox News threatened to sue The Simpsons – which is broadcast on Fox Entertainment and made by 20th Century Fox – in 2003 after a Fox News-style rolling news ticker featured on one Simpsons episode parodied the Right-leaning angle of Fox News’s stories. One particular headline read: “Study: 92 per cent of Democrats are gay”.

While a Fox News spokesperson denied the claim that they ever planned to file a lawsuit, Groening was noted to have said: “Fox said they would sue the show and we called their bluff because we didn’t think Rupert Murdoch would pay for Fox to sue itself. We got away with it.”

It’s not the first time The Simpsons has parodied Murdoch; in the episode Sunday, Cruddy Sunday, Rupert Murdoch introduces himself to Homer Simpson as: “Rupert Murdoch, billionaire tyrant”. Amazingly, they got Murdoch to do the voice work himself, confirming what we all long suspected: that Rupert Murdoch is a supremely wealthy megalomaniac, and loving it.

I find it extra ludicrous that News Corp. would sue its own Cash Cow.

Rupert Murdoch might be a right-winger, but he knows on which side of the bread his butter is spread. The Simpsons has made News Corp. billions. So you bet your backside Rupe will record his own voice.

Simpson writers/producers/actors might be stinking pinkos, but they've helped make a rich man richer. And that is always the bottom line.

(Meantime, "Simpsons" artists still wait to see if the show is picked up ... and they still have their jobs.)
