Stainton to Paramount

Here's some news:

... Paramount Pictures has tapped veteran animation executive David Stainton to head its fledgling animation unit.

Stainton spent 17 years at Walt Disney Co., where he most recently served as president of feature animation until early 2006 ...

David Stainton worked in development at Disney Feature, then moved to the Mouse's animation unit in Paris, France, and lastly to Disney Toons and Disney Feature Animation.

Chicken Little was produced on his watch, and made a goodly amount of money. Shortly thereafter, Disney purchased Pixar and Mr. Stainton stepped aside for John Lasseter and Ed Catmull.

We wish him well in his new job with Paramount.

I'm always amazed at how other studios hire these "executives" that they think were the reason studios were successful. Gee, I always thought it was the story folks, the directors and the animators.
The smart executives - a rare breed - hires smart people like the story folks, the directors and the animators, then gets out of the way.
I looked up smart executive and did not see the name of David Stainton, nor Max Howard, Sandy Rabins or a few others.

Satan had already signed with another company, so he wasn't available. David Stainton was Paramount's second choice.

Why do companies Continue to hire worthless douchebags like this? When they already have a track record of Shit?

At least it's not the likes of frank gladstone or max howard. Now THEY were really awful.

That's what happens when the moneymen in a studio get to pick the person to run it. That's how we got Bob Iger at Disney. Who's a fool. And who will soon be gone, thank god - but not soon enough.

"Avatarland" - *hurl*

According to Adam Goodman- "David’s accomplishments speak for themselves”

They sure as hell do. So why isn't he living in a gutter somewhere in Hollywood?

I think Avatar-Land sounds awesome.

*shrug*

I like Star Wars and Indiana Jones at Disneyland, why not Avatar at Disney World?

I still dont like Iger though

^Well, you heard it again. Sorry it provoked you into a tantrum (well, not really, it was pretty entertaining, actually). :D

Stainton and Iger have some things in common. They're both badly qualified for their positions. They make stupid decisions. They waste company money on stupid projects.

Deal.
