They were both extraordinarily talented and had the kinds of professional careers that are exceedingly rare in the 21st century: working at one company for close to fifty years.
The only Disney employees who are remotely comparable are Ron Clements and John Musker -- Ron 'n John. But of course, they have spent most of their careers as directors, not animators.
