End of the Week

Most studios are shuttered today for good Friday. Or at least some of them are. (Nick and DreamWorks are open.)

Yesterday I paddled around Nickelodeon, where show producers seem to be working two series at once and everyone is busy with new episodes of Fairly Odd Parent (the Nickelodeon gift that eternally gives), and new series Making Fiends and The Mighty B (aka Super Scout).

I got invited to watch the pilot of Mighty which is still in the process of becoming. It has a bunch of interesting characters, also a nice setting, and a nervy energy not unlike Fairly Odd Parent, which isn't surprising, since Cynthia True, one of the pillars of FOP had a major hand at the birthing of B, along with Amy Poehler and Nick veteran Erik Wiese.

“Mighty B,” picked up for 20 episodes, stars Amy Poehler as the voice of Bessie Higgenbottom, the world’s most ambitious and lovably unhinged 10-year-old “Honeybee” scout. As a member of the Honeybees, Bessie wears her uniform every single day, leads her troop with a zeal General Patton would have admired and has earned more Bee Badges than any Honeybee in history. But a bunch of badges still elude her, and Bessie’s not stopping until she has every last one.

I can attest that Ms. Higgenbottom is definitely zealous. And the owner of an imagination in hyperdrive.

This will no doubt be another winner for Nickelodeon. It's got that feeling about it, you know?
