Fox the Dominator

Fox is developing yet another teevee cartoon:.

... BRICKLEBERRY PARK (FOX, New!) - Waco O'Guin and Roger Black ("Stankervision") have booked a pilot presentation order from the network for a new animated comedy about "a group of forest rangers at a declining park that's about to be shut down." Dave Herman ("Office Space"), Tom Kenny ("Spongebob SquarePants") and Carlos Alazraqui ("Reno 911") have already signed on to voice the project ...

Forget about Disney, the company. Or John Lasseter, the man. The Big Kahuna in animation is someone else ...

... and that someone else is a kindly old gentleman named Murdoch.

Think about it a minute. Rupert presides over the highest grossing animated feature (Avatar) of all time. Sure, there's live action in it. And James Cameron argues that it falls in the l.a. column. But anybody who's honest would concede there's more animated elements in its two hour and twenty minute running time than anything else.

As Snow White was the highest grossing feature film as of 1938, so Avatar is the highest grossing feature circa 2010 ($2,467,962,011 and counting.)

But that's only a fragment of the reason that Rupert Murdoch is Animation's New King. In television, the Fox Network has its Animation Domination" schedule, where Sunday night IS Toonville. On the theatrical front, Avatar is only the beginning. There is the tentpole known as Alvin and the Chipmunks. There is Blue Sky Studio's Ice Age franchise, the last feature of which brought in a tidy sum for News Corporation.

So forget Walt Disney or John Lasseter or Jeffrey Katzenberg. The Big Kahuna of animation isa well-known newspaper mogul Keith Rupert Murdoch.

Don't forget he owns that other wacky cartoon character, glen beck. Sadly, both he and his lies are all too real.

But boy, is Glen fun-neee.

Great, you mention Fox and I knew the Left Wingnuts would come out from under the rocks.

Sigh.

And the retard right follows immediately behind.

Until we stop labeling each other, we wont be getting anywhere.

The post is abotu a media conglomerate and its focus on animation. You jump at the chance to hyperventilate about one jackass talking head at the expense of the animation discussion. Thats why you are a douchebag. You are a victim of your own politics. You don't wield a political opinion, it controls you and you bark preconceived opinions before formulating your own.

Rupert Murdoch owns Fox.
Fox has a news staion. One of the people on that news station is a moron named Glen Beck.
Rupert Murdoch is the same liar as Glen Beck.

^This kind of simplistic reasoning is what convinced people that the earth is flat. You have brought nothing to the discussion, but groans from the median american intellect, which looks down on you and your tiny brain.

Is Glen Beck a jack ass, yes. Are you going to tell us that the sky is blue too? Because much like your precious philosophy on Beck, 99.9999% of the people in here don't need to have the obvious stated to us in one the the very few places on the internet that discusses the business of the animation world as related to its workforce.

You are shitting where you eat. Grow up or go away. You are about 10% as smart as you think you are. We are embarrassed FOR you.

Fox develops several animated pilots a year that don't see the light of day and are never reported here. This is just part of the 2010 collection.

No wonder why Beck is on top, he says it like it is and apologizes if he's wrong. Refreshing.

He's never apologized for lying. If he did, he wouldn't lie, because he'd have time for nothing else. And he's lost 75% of his advertisers in the U.S. and 100% of his advertisers in the U.K.

He's a liar, and a cultist. And he's admittedly anti-U.S. Constitution.

To the pumpkin:

You miss the point that Murdoch wants to take control of the public opinion to impose his right wing views and standarts upon everyone else, using clowns, such as that bigot O'Reilly and Beck.

Also, you seem to think that we shouldnt post opinions here that differ with yours. Typical fascist talk...

Best of all, if that opinion differs from yours, then we must be stupid!?

Edward R Murrow was right....

Say what you will about Murdoch, O'Reilly and Beck and I would be the last to disagree, but he has incredible business judgment. He knows, (Murdoch), how to pick winners, and, more importantly, he knows how to DELEGATE. Those Sunday night shows can literally get away with anything without fear of censorship or editorial interference. He won't mess with a winning formula even when Family Guy's recent depiction of the "daughter of the former Governor of Alaska" infuriated almost everyone at Fox News. Controversy = ratings, and ratings, i.e. business, is Murdoch's actual politics. Good for those of us steadily employed on Fox shows. So where is the next Simpson's movie?

Why are you talking about animation and the networks that invest in it?!!?

Are you a "retard"?? Bill O'Reilly and Glen Beck are going to destroy the nation!!!

OH NOZ!

Lets type out OBVIOUS political diatribes on a website about the business of animation. Its not like there are other important things to discuss in here....

Uh. My point is that Rupert is the King of Animation. I find that amazing and fascinating.

He's also the King of Fox News. But I'm not talking about that here.

Or wasn't.

Fox is king of the television air waves no doubt about it. And even its films are HUGE and crush the competition. I wonder if Murdoch has a worthy successor because he really has built an empire whether we agree with him or not.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of Mr. Murdoch. What you should be doing though is coming to terms with the fact that the man is keeping many animation guild members busy with well paying unionized employment. You don't agree with him? You don't like Beck? Who cares. He's doing more for L.A. animation people than Disney and Warner Brothers. Geez at least be grateful for that.

If Murdoch didnt own about half of the media, someone else probably would. The cable companies would still be in need of animated content. In this universe, it happens to be Murdoch. So no, Murdoch needs content creators more than we need him.

Also, some people seem to forget he inherited a huge fortune from his media mogul dad, and of course, he had the benefit of receiving an education at Oxford University.

I guess I find it distastefull to see the media owned by just two people. The other one being Ted Turner.

God.

Steve Hulett said...

You find it distastefull? I'm down with that.

So start hurling some of your thunderbolts, already.

Well I am not counting on the animation being good since this is Fox. However as long as it isn't Seth Mcfarlane, then I am satisfactorily curious.
