One click down, Arlo says:
What doesn't go together(to me) is stating that we live and suffer the consequences in a corporatist state and it is wholly unfair, as Steven has (correct me if I'm wrong here Steve), and then mention that we should be completely beholden to that state of affairs.
Allow me to correct the wrongness ...
I don't believe in, and have never said, that corporatism is unfair.
It is simply our present reality. And I point out what I think is wrong about it -- but nowhere do I state it's not fair. What I think corporatism has given us is ...
1) A great concentration of wealth. (And which I think is unhealthy for the majority of the country).
2) Socialism for mega-corporations (i.e., Those lucky duckies which are "too big to fail" as defined by the corporate media and the government and therefore get billions in tax payer dollars.)
3) Free enterprise and "creative destruction" for the middle class and poor (i.e., those without the power of K street and million-dollar political donations.)
Do I think any of this "unfair"? No, I simply think it's the country as it exists today.
For the record, I don't believe in "fair" or "unfair" because I don't know how you define those words. One individual's idea of "fair" is most likely not another's. What I believe in is leverage, defined herein as "the power to achieve your perceived goal."
If you have leverage, you can make your own "fair" reality. And if not, not.

Wow Steve!!!
For once...I absolutely agree with you. :)
As this relates to our corporatist state...it is true that they have all leverage right now. It goes back to the old saying of the "golden rule".
Those who own the gold, make all the rules.
Really and truly, it almost seems sometimes that the only way to tip the leverage back to the people...the people have to take the government back.
The government allows the corporatism we have now. And only by the people throwing every last one out of congress and the white house can we start to establish a government for the people again.
The people lost leverage a long time ago...and it is hopeless until we take it back.

HR1207 Yes.
If everyone doesn't ban together on this one, we are all doomed.
When it comes to being democrat, republican, socialist, capitalist, libertarian, constitutionalist, green party, or whatever...
If we can't stop the banks and corporations from controlling our government and politicians, it doesn't much matter what your political or economic persuasion is.
These banks and corporations literally control and run our government...and thus the people.

Yikes!! Are you serious?
Some one steals your car Steve? You wouldn't call that unfair or wrong?
I'm usually one of the people who disagrees with Steve on just about everything, but his assessment that 'fair' and 'unfair' cannot be defined in objective terms is 100% correct.
Maybe the person who stole his car did it so that he could sell it to pay for an operation that would save his dying child because he was laid off and treated 'unfairly' by life. Does it become 'fair' then?
People don't like to face it, but 'fair,' 'unfair,' 'good,' 'evil'... these are all just words that mean something different to everyone.
Anon Oct 21:
Why don't you stick to what I actually post, rather than pulling other things from your large intestine?
Right and wrong, good and evil is a whole different topic. I allude to "wrong", but I'm talking about "fair" and "unfair."
As in: "It's totally unfair that everybody in this country doesn't have free health care with no deductibles." ...
It's completely unfair that I don't have eight weeks vacation with pay every summer ..."
"It's unfair that people earning five million dollars a year have to pay more in taxes than people earning forty thousand ..."
Etc.
