"Sad"

A former animation king-pin isn't glad that his alma mater is staying away from the Annies.

Former Disney Exec Calls Pixar-Boycotted Annies 'Sad'

"The animation community has been a tight community. Now that animation is starting to have great success in the commercial world, in Hollywood, to see it in fracture in terms of people's support, it makes me sad," Peter Schneider, former president of Disney Feature Animation and Walt Disney Studios, told The Hollywood Reporter at Saturday's Annie Awards ...

Dragon producer Bonnie Arnold added, "I feel for the artists who weren't able to submit their work." ...

Me, I agree with Mr. Schneider. I'd like to see Diz Co. work with ASIFA to get its issues addressed than have Disney and Pixar sit out the awards for the next fifty years.

It's better to have everybody inside the Big Tent. Boycotts always end up looking a little ... I donno ... pouty. Like somebody who's decided to pick up his marbles and go home.

I stand with Mr. Schneider on this one. Disney's behavior in this matter is frankly, embarrassing.

If Walt was around he'd tell these children to grow up. It's not that big of a deal.

As an artist at the studio, its a damn shame Tangled didnt get any recognition.

Disney is often their own worst enemy.

They produced a stellar princess movie that the public adored. Yet, they ran kicking and screaming away from their own film trying to convince us it was something else.

I have nothing but respect for the hard working artists, but sadly, the management is less than impressive.

I'm glad they pulled out, the Annie's are a total joke and untill there's a decent system made they should stay out of it.

Puh-leeze! All award shows are a joke. Getting a statue for doing your job? It sure ain't the Nobel Peace Prize.

We need to put this silly stuff in perspective. There's a real world out there with real problems, and none of it has anything to do with cartoon making.

Roseanne had it right: Hollywood is high school with money.

And the annies is kindergarten at the kids table. Still.

No, but I can imagine the ignorant anonymous commenter that talks politics instead of staying on topic.

It's about awards, not party affiliation. If you want to talk politics and show your IQ or lack thereof then go to Free Republic or Daily Kos. If you want to insult anyone's political views perhaps you should try one of those sites? I'd like to stick with animation and leave my voting habits and comments in the voting booth. Sigh.

I've deleted all the off-topic political comments.

Let's stick to the subject at hand, shall we?
