Animation Roll Outs

Movie promotion never ends. When one film is launched, laying the groundwork for the next release is already underway. And so it was for the next two DWA features.

... The small New York audience included an assortment of journalists, theater owners and other promotional targets. In the “Kung Fu Panda” sequel, Black’s rotund Po character finds out why his father happens to be a goose. ...

["Puss in Boots"] tells Puss’s origin story, but yesterday’s preview showcased the cat’s trademark mix of swagger and cuddly vulnerability. (In a saloon scene, Puss gently laps milk from a shot glass.) As he tries to steal magic beans from the grotesque outlaw couple Jack and Jill (voiced by Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris), he meets a rival, Miss Kitty Soft Paws (Salma Hayek). Instead of a swordfight, they duel in a dance off. ...

Of course, there's lot of animation tumbling down the movie pipeline. Illumination Entertainment's Hop will soon be bouncing along, and this summer will bring us some of our old, old friends:

1. Neil Patrick Harris doesn't do "straight" well.

2. The Smurfs are getting the Chipmunk treatment. And a lot of moviegoers will need treatment after sitting through THAT piece of shite.

What? Harris yells. Harris falls backwards, gets slapped, gets hog-tied.

You think he struggles with straightness on the basis of those things?

Why are the smurfs' design so unapplealing? Couldn't they stick to their original design? They don't look cute but just creepy.

Oh man. That was just dreadful. Why couldnt they have played it straight? You know, Smurfs in their forest vs Gargamel. Why does it have to be Smurfs invade NY?
