Rosa

The Reporter notes:

... Rosa, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi animated short from Spanish comic book artist Jesus Orellana, ... is getting attention from the tech and geek sites, and in the short time it’s been online (less than 24 hours), it has crossed over into the mainstream, hitting even USA Today. ...

ROSA from Jesús Orellana on Vimeo.

I see the younger kid playing video games that look similar on his game console, but this seems a bit more stylish. Perhaps Final Fantasy has returned with force.

Ugh! Characterless, witless, un-entertaining, and ugly. All (so-called) "Style." ZERO substance of any kind.

Agreed. Different is sometimes good, but not always better. This reminds me of those crappy zemeckis mo-cap things--all zombie, no animation.

Still, for a student film, it's ok. Now if only they can infuse their work with character, story, and good taste...

Not sure if I believe one guy did all of that. More likely a small team that is counting on the buzz factor of a single credit.

It certainly LOOKS like one person did it. Very fast.

Well it would be nice if they taught timing and pacing in film direction, instead just animation. I don't think one shot his held more than 2 seconds and the camera barely stops moving so every thing is just so unevenly paced making all of it just uninteresting.

There's no animation in that. Just mo-cap. And it'd be nice if they taught CHARACTER ANIMATION, as well as timing and pacing.

And why are they so afraid of color?
