Slithering Out of the Top Ten...

This late in the summer, it's all about the live-action... Through Thursday, "Barnyard: The Original Party Animals" was hanging in at #4 ($38.5 million). All other animated features have fallen out of the Top Ten. We'll track the numbers and positions as the weekend unfolds... Update #1: To nobody's surprise, "Snakes on a Ford Trimotor" opened at #1, raking in $6.1 million on Friday. "Barnyard" slowed its canter and slumped to #6. It now has a gross of $40.5 million. Update #2: Oops. As the weekend ended, "Snakes on a Plane" has been beaten by good ole boy Will F. "Pirates of the Caribbean" goes over the $400 million mark (though not as quickly as "Shrek 2" did it), and "Barnyard's" menagerie noses up against $46 million as the picture declines a mere 23% to #6. "Monster House" is #14 with a box office of $67 million; "Cars" is almost gone (now at #23 and 239.6 million), while "Over the Hedge" has run its total to $154.5 million. And unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, "Ant Bully" seems to have vanished, though we expect it to show up when the final weekend numbers are in on Monday.
