... Turns out to be Toy Story 3.
What a relief. The suspense was killing me.

What? Disney could only afford to bribe the HFP for Best Animated Film?
Wow. Lee kinda choked.
Thought it was interesting that the most applause from the audience came for Tangled...
I'm sorry, but the Golden Globes aren't any legitimate awards organization. It's a bunch of celebrities and news outlets that vote on what they've seen versus seeing everything and then casting a vote.
Toy Story was the winner when the title containing "TOY STORY" was on the ballot. In my opinion, DRAGON should have walked away with the award, but Tangled was great, as well.
Just refreshing to see original stories coming out and being recognized rather than sequels being churned out simply to sell more guaranteed tickets and toys.
Yeah, nobody was suprised. We all knew that.
I was more upset that "Tangled" lost in the category for Best Original Song. "I See the Light" was a much better song than Cher's.
I can live with TS3 winning best animated pic but Tangled losing to a Burlesque song is a total insult!!!
No matter how animated films are every year
Disney Animation Studio:
Always be the best
Film eternal!!!
They should have played "For Sentimental Reasons" while Lee was approaching the stage.
I guess I'll be the first to say congratulations to the Toy Story 3 crew!
Cher and not Menken?
Are they crazy?
With the Golden Globes it's all about who you bribe...nothing to do with voting or fairness. Go ask Pia Zadora.
The songs on "Tangled" were uninspiring and forgetable. Why would they even deserve a nomination is beyond me....
Anon @ 7:52 - are you new here? Rule #1 is there is no praise for anything Pixar allowed unless it is some sort of backhanded compliment.
"I was more upset that "Tangled" lost in the category for Best Original Song. "I See the Light" was a much better song than Cher's."
Cher is more famous than mandy moore. The hollywood foreign press probably got face time with her. Diane WAarren wrote Cher's song--and she's a ton more successful than Menken.
Nice to know that Disney/Pixar won't be pulling out of the Golden Globes next year.
Do you think they know that pulling out doesn't work...?
Floyd Norman- I don't get it... Pixar pulled out of the Annies after winning big for UP. Is that what you're getting at, or is it something else?
They weren't up against a Katzenberg film when they won for Up, that's why.
I don't think they care about losing to DW... but losing to FAS? That would definitely be an issue for them.
"In my opinion, DRAGON should have walked away with the award, but Tangled was great, as well."
My opinion is you have bad taste. Ok, not bad, just not as good as those that think Toy Story 3 was better. It was. Dragon was good, it's my second favorite film from DWA, but it is in way as emotional and depth filled as this sequel. A sequel it may be, but it's a masterful film with or without a number after the name.
Toy Story 3 was Toy Story 2.
Arguing about who has better taste is subjective and ridiculous
"Toy Story 3 was Toy Story 2."
Actually no.
It was the opposite of 2 and 1 for that matter. If you followed the plot of TS1 & TS2, they were rescue pictures that required the characters to save someone. First film it was Buzz, the second was Woody.
TS3 was a prison break film, like many classics of that genre from the 60's and 70's. It was the opposite of the first two. Sorry that you missed that.
I don't think that they missed anything. They keep churning out the same over sentimental formulas like they do with almost all their movies. I like a thought provoking film, don't get me wrong, but if that means bringing on the water works eveytime I see a film doesn't always give me a good feeling afterwards...
Toy Story 2 vs 3
-Starts with a fantasy sequence
-Woody calls a toy meeting to discuss some toy problem
-There's some confusion regarding a yard sale (or donations) causing a toy (or toys) to become accidentally discarded
-Woody is separated from the group and has to face up to the idea Andy doesnt love him, or the group has rejected him
-Lotso Huggin Bear = Prospector. Our heroes are double crossed.
-Buzz is either TS2) replaced or TS3) reset so we can see factory-default Buzz
-Chase sequence
-Andy is reunited with his toys, it was all a big misunderstanding.
If I really wanted to, I could watch TS2 and then TS3, and make more specific notes. Im sure I could find dozens of similarities not noted here, with primary and secondary characters. Let me know.
Right on! Yes they are mostly the same film and use many of the same ideas.
The only really big difference between TS2 and TS3, is that TS2 was a much better movie. Much more fun, much more simple and clear, and much more entertaining than TS3.
Actually the big difference between TS2 and TS3 is that when Woody is presented with a moral "Sophie's Choice" dilemma near the end (one more thing that is alike in both films), in TS2 Pixar cheats and allows him to have his cake and eat it too. In TS3 he actually makes a choice.
But neither film is as good as TS1. maybe not technically, but certainly story-wise.
