This Means ... WAR

Disheartening:

The Simpsons are corroding the morals of Iranian youth, an official said on Monday, as dolls based on Bart, Homer and the rest of the American cartoon family joined the shapely Barbie among Western toys targeted by a new crackdown in Tehran.

"The Simpsons dolls are merchandise from an animated series, of which some episodes are even banned in Europe and America," Mohammad Hossein Farjoo, whose agency oversees what Iranian children can play with, told the Sharq newspaper. He did not elaborate on what episodes might have been censored elsewhere. ...

Forget about the nukes. Forget the terrorist activities hither and yon. The Iranians (our new Enemy of the Month) are banning Homer, Bart and the rest of the Yellow Family. Launch the bombers! Mobilize the troops!

I feel so sorry for the citizens of Iran...They've got more to worry about with a crazy leader than this. It's such a beautiful country with wonderful people for the most part. Since the U.S. and UK fanned the flames of radicalism by installing a dictator in the 1950's, things have never been the same.

If the U.S. isn't careful with it's shameful march toward theocracy, we could easily end up in a similar state.

That said, they can take the Simpsons. Just don't touch my South Park.

I wonder how they say "Doh!" in Farsi?

What a sad, sad little country.

Of course, you are wrong. It is the Hume if most we know. That it currently has a nut as a leader is sad. But the US had bush for 8 years--so we're even.

^The blog administrators should delete the above comment as it is nothing but hate speech. He just suggested we should exterminate a whole country. Seriously?

Fine idea. We're not going to talk about anybody wiping anybody off the earth.

Because as we all know, only the U.S. and a chosen few are allowed to have nuclear weapons.

^And we have yet to wipe anybody off the face of the earth. Your point?

The idiotic Bush-bashing from that frequent, foam-at-the-mouth poster up above is just as radical as anything spouted by the current nutbar leader of Iran. And the idea that the U.S. is somehow responsible for the Iranian state of affairs is laughable. Are the people there all robots? Are they unable or unwilling to depose the son of a b*tch? We Americans got rid of our overlords. Why can't other countries do the same, if they're so unhappy with their leadership?

As in all cultures, there are good people that dont deserve to be inihilated. The Iranian government needs to be taken out, as thier supression of freedom goes too far (the Homer ban, in this case). They are loud mouth yaps that do have a point in stating that they (unlike us) have not invaded other countries. But they have taken our people hostage and will do so today because they are a huge landmass of a country. The President of today had been photographed with our citizens in the 1979 hostage crisis, and few have acknowledged it, (McCain,Lieberman), and yet we let him come dancing into our country for greenscreen backdrop UN Meetings in which he continues to show disrespect. (And the lady that is his interpreter is a hoot as well). So the statement on the banning a cartoon character is only as visible as any of the diatribe they spew. Its just ridiculous, as them saying that closing the Straight of Hormuz would be easier than drinking a glass of water(WallStreet's que to burp). Loudmouth's. It's hardly the worth of discussion on a cartoon blog. But I do have my fun a digging in on Armadenjod while I honor those Iranians I know that are good. So go ahead and delete me.....DOH!

The battle field was slightly more even back then.
An ocean between the oppressors and the oppressed. Plus it was Rifles against rifles sword against sword. Not helicopters, night vision tech, snipers, on and on.
That said, it will still IMO need to be up to the Iranian people to change their country.

Well. 11:13 isnt going to last long....too bad. So let me leave the shadow where once the middle finger stood erect. Who would defend the president of Iran? And everyone either loved or hated Bush. This is about whats going on now and today. Our President is presently enforcing new sanctions on Iran, and for the past week, we have been given the insight on how the sanctions are hurting Iran. All this, and funny how they pick on a cartoon character to make headlines for the day. My point is: Our President today, is doing much more to curtail the behavoir of the Iranian leadership than Bush ever did. Perhaps it could have been advise by his wuss of a father, who wouldn't have been President if Reagan didnt take him out of the running by putting him on his ticket during the time when our citizens were being held by the current President of Iran. Thus leading to the secret deal that won Reagan his term in office, which then led to, in his second term, the exposure of the Iran/Contra affair (the US/Iran arms & hostage deal), which led to the trial in which star witness William Casey "conveniently" died and all others were pleading the fifth and "couldn't recall" anything and Ollie North was jailed which led to a free-get-out-of-jail card by Papa Bush (his former CIA Boss) and so on and so on. Which now leads to Iran flapjawing today about the Simpsons who are really the innocent fallguys in all this. So unfortunate. It really a laugh.

wow. I was just going to comment I remember American parents being upset about the same thing back when the Simpsons came out. (I think my school tried to ban the t-shirts, even.)

Iranians are beautiful people. Please America don´t fall again for the war propaganda....India was doing illegal nuclear testing just a few years back and the US continue to be buddy buddy with them. Can you say Hypocrisy .... It makes me sick that they keep laughing at Ron Paul for not being a blood thirsty warmonger and bringing some historical perspective and diplomacy to a country were millions of innocents will suffer because a few crazy leaders

Not to mention the uninformed of what America was founded on. They can try and rewrite history and sway the bloggers and wikipedia generation or those that don't look into anything that is more than 10 years ago. But you will never change what the country is built on and why with all its in perfections she still stands as the greatest country left in the free world. And that's why the terrorist hate us. Its called personal liberty, and it has an origin.

It's scary to think that individuals like this moron are walking the streets...even worse when they are members of the NRA...

"still stands as the greatest country left in the free world. And that's why the terrorist hate us."

That's a good one. HA! And so IGNORANT, too.

They hate us because we're FREE? B**SH*!! Decades of empirical meddling on the West's part created the stew of understandable frustration in the Middle East. The U.S. has just as many crazies (eric rudolph, oliver north, erik prince, terry randall, pat robertson, ronald reagun, timothy mcveigh, dick cheney, james bolton--either terrorists or friends of terrorists because "they believe their 'christians.'" C-Street b.s.

I'm GLAD we live in a progressive country, and glad to live here myself. But I've lived in many countries, and on many, if not most fronts, the U.S. is far behind, and far from the "greatest" country in the world. We're 12th in INTERNET speed and availability (far behind ROMANIA!). We didn't tar and feather treasonous acts by bush and dick, david addington, and kkkarl rove. We don't have universal health care. And we have a House of Representatives who needs it's diapers changed and a time out in the corner.

Someone needs to study history beyond Wikipedia.

Yes, and not to be taken. Wingnuts like that poor, ignorant, fringe right poster helped drove our economy over the edge. He obviously is deluded, and hates America. Left to his own devices, he'd destroy America. Talk about lying hypocrites.

America is a great country. But not necessarily the greatest. It's obvious that poster has never traveled beyond his mom's basement.

Any citizen has every right to critizise his own country. Otherwize, how are things going to improve? and differing oppinions is what a democracy is all about. The 'my-way-or-the highway' argument sounds to me like the ad baculum fallacy. And it always manages to make me laugh!
