Below the fold, images from our next Gallery 839 show, opening this evening, featuring the work of Alexandra Kube (above), Carlos Nieto III and Charles Pickens.
Pulling together her experience in animation, instillation and graphic design, Alexandra Kube has been painting and "touring" the West, promoting her artwork. She's excited to be showing at Gallery 839 once again. Exhibiting her new work for the first time. Veering from they desert landscapes she's been known for, her paintings have taken a creative turn, inspired and influenced by American artist Edward Hopper. Come see what's new.
Carlos Nieto III's artistic talent led him to jobs on "The Simpsons" and "King Of The Hill" as a layout artist. He has worked as a visual consultant for Universal, creating sketches and final art for set designs. He conducts drawing workshops across the country. Currently working with families at Children's Hospital L.A. as an artist in residence, providing them with an artistic escape from he anxiety of being in a hospital. He is presently working on three graphic novels.
One of the amazing features of this exhibit is Charles Pickens's magnificent prototype Chess Set. You will also see original paintings and limited edition prints of his fine art. As a production artist and a twenty-two-year member of Local 839, he has produced multiple works of art for major studios throughout Los Angeles, while still managing to create his own unique works of art.
