The Big Boat

... in genuine fake 3-D beats the 3-D lion.

Titanic 3D's global cume of $190.9 million eclipses the $178.2 milllion earned worldwide by Disney's 3D release of The Lion King last year. ...

So 3-d will be with us for awhile longer, yes?

Does this surprise anyone? Yes, both their initial runs were very impressive, but Lion King didn't hold a candle to Titanic, money-wise. It's no surprise the re-releases are no different.

Please note that I'm not comparing the films, just their earnings.

I don't get the complaints. If you don't wanna watch it in 3d, nobody's holding a gun to your head!...

Actually, in many places you just don't have the option to see movies in 2D anymore

I have to go to another CITY to find a 2D showing of a 3D movie.

And of course, I choose not to watch the movie I want in theaters and wait for the DVD rather than suffer through a 3D screening.

^ Google "2D Glasses".

Re: Titanic beating Lion King... I'm not surprised. Not only did it do way better originally, they were also super smart about the re-release, timing-wise, considering the anniversary and such. The very idea of Titanic right now is hyped, no wonder the movie sells well!

All because it has to have it's centennial anniversary to annoy us!
