Not Getting Cancelled

Nickelodeon's Cartoon Network's ongoing hit:

Adventure Time returned Monday night with its fourth season, scoring as the #1 telecast of the day among all targeted kids—ages 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14—earning double and triple-digit growth vs. last year’s time period, according to Nielsen Media Research. The season’s first half-hour episode “Hot to the Touch” also out-paced all kids competition, by double and triple digits ranging between 20% and 353% ...

As it happens, I talked to AT crew members this week. One of them, who also worked on the pilot, said he was glad for the work, and glad that it looks like the series will continue for awhile. Fifth season ... sixth season ... and beyond?

Steve, have you heard anything about Chris Williams leaving King of the Elves?

I just read that it's been shelved again and he's no longer on the project?

I've been told about changes on "King of Elves," but since it does me no good to blat about those things here, I am silent.

Sorry.

And while we're on the subject of feature animation, has Glen Keane joined Dreamwork's Me and My Shadow yet???

Yeah, Blue Sky Disney said that the project has been put back on the shelf and Chris Williams has gone back to doing story boarding for others. WTF?

Take with a large grain of salt anything blogged on that fan site blue sky disney.

Not correct.

jester says: I'm surprise that this article is getting ignored.

AT is overrated. It's a decent show but its popularity comes from the fact that every other cartoon on TV is so awful.

Boy all I can say about this is HOW STUPID ARE THE DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVES AT NICK? They HAD this show and they passed on it. I mean ya really gotta think about that for sec. Thinking?

Okay... They're clearly idiots who should all be fired for this alone never mind they don't have enough talent to scrape into a thimble. Oh wait, they had to make room for all the Butch shows they got in the pike. Smart move.

For the millionth time Glen is NOT going to Dreamworks.

Aren't there enough Disney threads on this site to keep the Disney comments there? This post doesn't have anything to do with Keane or Disney, and it'd be nice to read more comments about the majority of the animation industry, not just Disney.

And for the record, I don't get why Adventure Time is so popular, but hey! whatever works!

Nobody cares about Nickelodeon.

I mean Cartoon Network.

I mean Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network are opposite sides of the same disastrous coin.
Nickelodeon puts all of its resources behind a bunch of out-of-touch, clueless, glorified former secretaries calling themselves executives who wouldn't know a good cartoon if it were waved in front of their faces (which happens often) so they rely heavily on franchises like those dumb penguins.
Cartoon Network puts all of its resources behind a bunch of self indulgent, self-proclaimed child-genius, wet-behind-the-ears CalArts undergrads who couldn't run a show if their lives depended on it while the network pats itself on the back for being 'young and hip' without putting much thought into whether their shows are 'good.'
Both combos are doomed to a smidgen of short-term hype.
