Re-Ups

From the Diz Co.:

Disney XD has ordered new seasons of its 'toon block featuring a rather well-known webslinger and superhero team. The cable net picked up Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man vs. The Sinister 6, featuring the arachnoid crimefighter taking the unified supervillains, and Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution. ... It’s the fourth season for Ultimate Spider-Man and third for The Avengers. ...

Avengers is being produced at the Marvel Animation studio in Glendale, while Spider-Man is being turned out by Film Roman (the home of the Yellow Family) in nearby Burbank. Spidey only recently re-staffed for its new order of half-hours, while Avengers has been in production for awhile now. (Disney doesn't like to put out press releases until the announced shows are well into work.)

So you know, Film Roman has been around since the early eighties, when industry veteran Phil Roman left his director's gig at Bill Melendez's studio and set up his own company in Toluca Lake. Phil has long-since departed the company that bears his name, but the studio continues to turn out a variety of animated product.

Marvel Animation is a much younger studio, set up after the purchase of Marvel by the Walt Disney Company, and has two studio in L.A. County. The older one is on Flower Street in Glendale, a few hundred feet from the real estate on which The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin were made. Mavel's second studio is located at the old Vitagraph Studios in Hollywood.
