Of course, what's going on here is synergy optimization. Diz Co. has properties it wants to reinvent, even as it reinvigorates the originals. If you've got a library of features people love, rework them so they'll love them even more.
It's a business model that's working like gang busters. Just look at the Walt Disney Company's stock price.

Wasn't Aristocats originally planned to be live-action...?
Maybe they'll some day animate The Black Cauldron. Although it wasn't quite live action, it was NEVER "animated."
