The Smell of Moolah

This was bound to follow after the recent box office events.

... Disney has announced theatrical re-releases for four of its animated catalog titles in 3-D — “Beauty and the Beast,” “Finding Nemo,” “Monsters Inc.” and “The Little Mermaid.” ...

Beauty and the Beast has already been ThreeDeed, so that feature was a no-brainer.

But now that there is lots of long green in the water, I expect the library will be worked pretty hard for other titles that would produce sustenance for The Mouse.

Who knows? If this goes well, sooner or later Diz Co. will work its way to "Snow White in 3-D," "Dimensional Fantasia" (will amaze ya), and "Pinoke's Nose."

I can't wait.

Leave it to disney to run an idea into the ground.

Is Iger turning into another Eisner?

Let's hope not.

*sigh* Before the usual gang of bitter and angry trolls start complaining about "OH NO! The eevvvviiilll Disney corporation is trying to make money off their previous films" I just want to say that it's not like Disney never re-released their films before. They used to release their films all the time before the advent of home video (and even after the fact). This is not a new thing with Disney!

Personally, I'm glad to have a chance to see these in theaters again.

I say who cares if it's in 3D, I want to see these great films on the big screen again... like they are MEANT to be seen.

It'd be nice if they made a few original films too.

Um.... we're making original films.

Tangled, Winnie the Pooh, Wreck-It Ralph. Prep and Landing... more to come.

Wait'll you see Ralph. We showed the first five minutes at D23.

Plus Ron and John's musical version of the life of Jack the Ripper.

"Saucy Jack" has had a title change, though. It'll now be called "Saucy!" The exclamation-point is to emphasize how saucy it is.

'Tangled' sucked.

Let us all know when you make a better film, el Diablo.

Or better yet, make a better animation studio, and we'll all work for you instead.

You, brilliant you.

I think this is great news and I have to agree, seeing these movies on the big screen will bring back some great memories and there's plenty of room for all the great up and coming new films, 3D or 2D. And we need to remind many that 2D is just another way of animating but I can see why some people would be threatened by it.

Oh and god forbid classically hand drawn animation on the movie screen, why that's just taboo in this digital age. And yes tangled did suck... if I recall correctly wasn't tangled just a pile stocked expressions, designs and story taken from the disney classics? And that reply of go make your own film or studio is unintelligent.

O.K., if the original "Prep and Landing" isn't released on DVD this holiday season, I'm going to go to the studio and punch someone in marketing. What the hell is the holdup?

But with well-developed characters and well told. I could not say the same about "Bolt" or "The Princess and the Frog".

IMHO, the results of "The Lion King" show that traditional animation is still alive and of course profitable.

I could easily challenge you to do the same.

I'm actually happy working where I am.
You were the one who said that our hit movie sucked.

el diablo,

This is not my opinion, it is a fact. You have no clue as to what makes a good film. You of course will never accept this, because you are you.

I welcome this! Although I did not see Lion King in 3D (Wish they showed it for a longer period of time), I heard the conversion was pretty well made!

I'm more interested in seeing these classics in a big screen than watching them in 3D though... Will they screen 2D versions as well, when they do this?

Keeps more people employed. :) And if the conversion is well made, why not?

You can't see it, but I'm doing the happy dance... :0)

Wrong. It is an opinion. I'm just not sure it's your opinion, since you don't seem to have an original thought of your own. And it is you who does'nt seem to know what makes a filmm 'good'.

Wait, ...what? Really?

I'm on the casual sidelines here, and have no inside info about whether this can be true, or is just sarcasm.

It's sarcasm.

You're having your chain pulled.
