His passion and talent were such that he managed to become a working professional in the cartoon industry while still in high school. At the time, he was a student in Rowland Heights High School's animation program, he was also working at Film Roman, juggling text books with pencils and animation paper.

His career progressed rapidly from there ...

Bert sounds a little like me in those childhood days when I saw TV specials and books that showed how animation was done. Aside from not having a super 8 camera to fool around with myself, I never did get an Amiga 500 I was so in awe at seeing the in-store demo too. Bert certainly had a lucky start in his career!
