The Sub-Continent Goes to Toronto

... Where a new feature rolls out.

... An original animated feature, The World of Goopi and Bagha, received a world premiere at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival or TIFF.

The industry appears ready to shrug off that caricature of being simply an outsourcing destination.

The film is designed and directed by Mumbai-based animator Shilpa Ranade, who has a day job as a professor at IIT-Powai’s Industrial Design Centre.

The showing of this Hindi children’s film in Toronto marked the highest profile international debut at a major global festival for feature length Indian animation. ...

I'm going to go out on a limb and say The World of Goopiu and Bagha will be less than a total triumph outside of India. In fact, if history is prologue, it won't be all that robust in the home country, either.

Still in all, it's getting a reception at a major film festival so maybe it will do okay commercially, if we define "okay' as recouping its cost while in general world release.
