Now with candy-flavored Add On.

1. Transformers 3 (Paramount) NEW (opened Tues) [4,013 Theaters] Tuesday $5.5M (9 PM), Wednesday $37.7M, Thursday $21.4M Friday $33.5M, Saturday, Sunday, Monday Three-Day Weekend $100M, Four-Day Holiday $120M First Five Days $160M, First Seven Days $185M

Meantime, Kung Fu Panda 2 resides at #14, with a domestic accumulation of $155.6 million.

Add On: Nikki's updated accumulations:

1. Transformers 3 (Paramount) NEW (opened Tues) [4,013 Theaters] Tuesday $5.5M (9 PM), Wednesday $37.7M, Thursday $21.4M Friday $32.8M, Saturday $34M, Sunday, Monday Three-Day Weekend $97M, Four-Day Holiday $115M First Five Days $158M, First Seven Days $180M International $215M, Global Cume $400M

3. Bad Teacher (Sony) Week 2 [3,049 Theaters] Friday $4.5M (-64%), Saturday $5M, Sunday, Monday Three-Day Weekend $14M, Four-Day Holiday $17M, Cume $62.4M

4. Larry Crowne (Universal) NEW [2,972 Theaters] Friday $4M, Saturday $4.9M, Sunday, Monday Three-Day Weekend $13.5M, Four-Day Holiday $16.7M

Poor Tom Hanks and Julia appear to be still-born with the viewing public that's not middle-aged:

A full 71% of the audience for Larry Crowne was over the age of 50 and 93% over the age of 25. The film, directed by Hanks and receiving a B CinemaScore, is one of the oldest-skewing films box office observers can remember.

And as we all know, seasoned citizens don't attend the cinema in large numbers.

Look for Cars 2 to drop like a rock, and not even crack $200 million in the US. Look for the pundits to start writing articles highlighting the cartoon's lack of 'legs' and the 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, and wonder if Pixar has lost their spell on audiences. Look for the Disnar PR machine to keep bragging about all the toys being sold. Look for all this to put added pressure on Brave to restore the lustre.

I don't mean to sound like a Pixar hater, but I'm kinda glad this is happening to Cars 2. It should be clear that bad movies (especially bad sequels) should not be made. Pixar of all studios should know this.

Oh well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...

Why dont you talk about the lame legs of the lame Kung Fu Panda sequel?

Be ause dw movies don't/can't sell much annciliary merchandise. All those Bee Movie and Sharktale toys flopped like the movies.

There actually weren't any Bee Movie or Shark Tale toys produced.

Panda 2 wasn't lame. It wasn't as good as the first, but it was not the steaming pile of doodoo Cars 2 was.

Pixar fans should know this the best. I mean, they point to rottentomatoes scoring for everything. They'll agree then that Panda 2 was that much more superior to Cars 2.

If there is any justice in this world, Cars 2 will not gross more than Panda 2. There might be a good chance for this it continues to plummet.

And Panda 2 was not marketed very well. I believe this falls to Paramount more than it does to Dreamworks though.

Which means it was lame.

The reviews for Cars2 have really created turmoil in the ranks of the Pixies. I thought they were funny before, but now they're downright hilarious

OMG>... are you kidding me? They made TONS of crappy Bee Movie and Sharktale toys. They were hideous.
They looked nothing like the characters in the movie...maybe thats a good thing though...
But they made LOADS of toys, and I'm sure lots of them weren't saved by "the Claw" on their way to a landfill.
