The Derby Abroad

... for the weekend of June 10-12. And it looks like KFP 2 is our winner.

... Kung Fu Panda 2 made its debut in the weekend’s No. 1 box office spot on the foreign theatrical circuit, grossing $56.5 million from 11,025 screens in 45 territories.

The tally was buoyed by the 3D animation sequel’s solid openings in 17 overseas markets. Total foreign gross for Panda 2 has exceeded the $200-million mark (cume is $205 million) ...

Meantime, the bear is just shy of $127 million stateside, so that gives the latest DWA release a running total of $332 million three weeks into its global release cycle.

And of course, Fox's Rio is still out in the foreign multiplexes, with $329.5 million in its tote bag thus far, which gives it a grand total of $467.3 million.
