So Why Not MORE Prime Time Animation?

Rupert's minions continue their television monopoly:

FOX’s ANIMATION DOMINATION premieres ranked #2 last night among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers and Adults 18-34 and won the night among Teens.

THE SIMPSONS was the second highest-rated entertainment program of the night in Adults 18-49 (just one-tenth behind Once Upon A Time) and THE SIMPSONS and FAMILY GUY tied as the highest-rated entertainment programs of the night in Adults 18-34. ...

I get that our other fine conglomerates have this unreasoning fear of the Writers Guild grabbing more nighttime teevee cartoons, which no doubt suits the Fox people fine, since it leaves the prime time playing field (and the accompanying piles of greenbacks) all to them.

But I continue to believe that it's a stupid corporate move for Disney ... Universal-NBC ... and the wonderful folks at CBS to studiously ignore prime time cartoons. In many ways, it's a weird parallel to the long-ago days when everybody pretended theatrical animation didn't exist, leaving the genre to Disney.

Which of course left Uncle Walt all alone to make big bucks doing feature-length cartoons.
