Early Moolah for Croods

Worldwide rollouts of DreamWorks Animation's latest have started to happen:

... DreamWorks Animation's The Croods — their first movie being released by 20th Century Fox — earned over $6 million from preview shows in Russia, Mexico, and a handful of smaller markets this weekend. Aside from Russia and Mexico, it is also reaching Brazil, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. (along with around 40 other territories) next weekend, and it will surely claim the top spot. ...

I haven't seen early tracking for the movie so have no clue how it will perform this weekend, but it looks closer to the zany comedy stylings of the company than Rise of the Guardians, so I'm thinking it will have stronger grosses.

The world can't wait to see another film from the "writer" of Quest for camelot, racing stripes, and space chimps. Only this time he directed it instead of frederick dachau. Although it's tracking flat and reviews are tepid, here's hoping it does enough to prevent further layoffs at Dreamworks.

Me, I love every cartoon Chris Sanders touches, so I can't wait to see THE CROODS.

Since he's only made 2, and they were primarily successful due to Dean Dublois's strong writing, directing, and storytelling skills, it makes one wonder why.
