If One Works ...

... two should be gangbusters.

On the heels of the breakout success of Sofia The First on Disney Junior, Disney Channel has ordered an animated series about a little older princess, voiced by The Middle‘s Eden Sher. The channel has given the green light to Star And The Forces Of Evil (working title), an animated comedy adventure about Star Butterfly (Sher), a fun-loving magical teen princess from another dimension ...

The series was created by young artist and writer Daron Nefcy, who serves as co-executive producer. She is a 2009 California Institute of the Arts graduate who is known in the Los Angeles underground art community. ...

Since half of the current crop of Cal Arts animation students are women, it's natural and good that Disney (who pretty much founded the place) is putting more women in positions of creative control. Brenda Chapman, academy award winner from another Disney division, is now directing a project at Lucasfilm, and Jennifer Lee is a co-director of Walt Disney Animation Studios' Frozen.

Another princess-themed TV show?

Is this one also going to include existing Disney characters like Sofia the First does?

Seems that all that is offered up on The Disney Channel now is princesses and tweenie sitcom crap. I miss the original format of The Disney Channel, when it remained a venue for showcasing the venerable library of Disney classic animation and live-action features. Too bad that it's been taken over by the idiotic marketing types.
